Mama Said

Americana newcomer,  Mama Said hails from Shelby, NC.  Their new CD "Runnin' with scissors,"  is as diverse musically as the changing weather in Texas!  Maybe that is why Mama Said chooses to describe their unique style as "Rural Alternative." 

This CD combines many different styles,  from Blues to Bluegrass, Rock to Country, Cajun to Folk, showcasing and celebrating each member's uniqueness, from slow ballads like "Just Say When," to toe tappin' dance floor burnin' songs like "Bayou Mud" and "Zydeco Ball."   It is almost impossible to sit still and listen to this CD, without gettin up and dancin!  It sounds like they had a lot of fun putting this CD together and that definitely comes across in their music. 

I really like the way these guys *and gal* harmonize on all their songs, you can hear the passion they have for the music.  You can REALLY see the strong influences of other artists that have shaped them musically in each song.  This CD has it all: Blues, Bluegrass, Rock, Country, Cajun, Folk, and love ballads, and mixes them well for a very diverse and altogether pleasing CD.  No matter what style of music you like, this CD has something for you.  There's just NOT a bad song on here!
