The Cowboy Tommy Lee & The Hugh DaMaan Band is definitely a fun party band! I was first introduced to this awesome band a few weeks ago at a Wednesday night installment of KHYI's Pickin'' Party. These guys are your energetic, hard hittin' honky tonk, hit the bottle and the ole dance floor kinda band. You can't help but have fun & tap your foot to their high energy brand of original honky tonkin' music. Frontman Cowboy Tommy Lee's talent as an original TEXAS singer/songwriter shines through in each song. Clearly these guys know how to have fun and are lovin' what they do!
With fine talent like JC on lead guitar, Jack on bass, Sammy on drums, and Brit on acoustic guitar, it all makes for a real fine mix, especially with Lone Star's Favorite son, Ritchie Varnell wailin' away at the harmonica on their upcoming CD project! This upcoming project would make for their 2nd CD. I love the way these guys harmonize on the song "Keep The Fire Burning." Cowboy Tommy Lee's style reminds me a lot of greats like Charlie Daniels new stuff, and the Eagles. They have a countrified blues rockin' kind of sound about them, that ya just can't get enough of! Their drunken sing along tunes, "What Did I Do Last Night," and "Take Me Drunk I'm Home Again" are Beer Bytch approved anthems for sure! *You know how I LOVE a good drankin' song!*
Also
worth mentioning here is the beautiful heartfelt ballad aptly entitled "The
Gift Of Love." It is both a
powerful
and moving love song that reminds you of the importance of
family, especially in times
like
these. It really does make you want to hold someone special close to
you. It was also especially moving
hearing an acoustic version of it the other night at Lone Star for the
Pickin' Party, talk about
goose bumps... man, that brought a tear to my eye!!
Cowboy Tommy Lee can melt the hardest of hearts with a good love song.
