Beer Bytch sez: "Eh?"  "Dallas" was the pretty boy Nashvegas cover band that opened for Mark David Manders on Friday night.. as if he needed an opener.. sheesh!  Their only saving grace was their steel player *until he opened his mouth and sang*  and their decent cover of Toby Keith's latest offering "I'm Not Talkin' About Forever."

Their version of  Montgomery Gentry's song "She Changed Alot When She Couldn't Change Me" sucked worse than the original could ever hope to.  They also DARED to slaughter TRUE Texas music, butchering the likes of Charlie Robison, Jack Ingram, Radney Foster, and they even dared to attempt Dwight Yokam's awesome cover of the Cheap Trick song "I Want You To Want Me."  We won't even discuss their butchered versions of Stevie Ray Vaughn's, or Jimi Hendrix' songs here.  George Jones,  and George Strait finish off the list of causalities.  Can you say "O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L?"   I thought not.

While it isn't a TOTAL Bytch Slap,  *it's damn close to one*  I PRAYED they'd get off the stage.  I couldn't get drunk enough to "enjoy" them.  I also wanted to add that  95.3 the Range (KHYI) had NO part in booking this "Nashvegas Nightmare."  We cringed right along through their set together.  It was all the club's doing.

Beer Bytch sez "EH?!"  or.. in layman's terms: What the HELL was that?!

On a brighter note... Mark David Manders played Top Rail Friday Sept. 21st, and as always, it was a REAL treat.  I've had the pleasure of seeing him play a few times before, and I've never seen a bad show yet.  Don't seem likely that I will neither.  Hell, he even got applause during sound check, he was that good!

The show opened with a very moving rendition of  The National Anthem, sang beautifully by his new bassist, Allison Branch, who hails from San Marcos.  What an AWESOME way to open a show, she has a wonderful voice!  That was truly classy.  I'm not  in the least ashamed to admit that it brought a tear to my eye.

The crowd response was absolutely wonderful, everyone was singing along and having fun,  Mark sang all the favorites from his newest CD "Chili Pepper Sunset" including the Beer Bytch approved song "BEER."  Also sung from the same CD were "Jim Murphy" and "Not All Angels"  He also sang a few that he doesn't normally do, such as "Tracy Wall" from his "Tales From The Couch Circuit" CD.

All in all, after seeing Mark perform, and obviously having fun onstage, you can't help but get pulled into the party atmosphere he creates.  This Beer Bytch is a die hard fan.  I approve.. but you don't have to take my word for it.. go see a show for yourself and hear the pure listening enjoyment that is Mark David Manders.  Check out his website for more info.

Well DUH!!  OF COURSE it's Beer Bytch Approved!!
